BMD register[edit]

  • A Frederick Palmer died aged 73 in Elham in 1938;[1]
  • a Frederick Palmer aged 73 died at Kings Lynn in 1939;[2]
  • a Frederick C. Palmer died aged 75 in 1941 at Newbury.[3][4]
  • A Frederick C.Palmer died aged 76 at Wokingham (2c 895; 1942 Jan-Mar)
  • A Frederick Palmer died aged 77 at Evesham (6c 249; 1943 Oct-Dec)

Re photograph: Barn House at Whitstable was Queen Mary's Coronation Holiday Home, and then a 30 bed Voluntary Aid Detachment Hospital in World War I. In 2003 it was the home of Lucy Elizabeth Jupp.[5] It is now the Marine Hotel, Tankerton.[6][7]

Cissie Hill[edit]

  • Florence C. Benge married in Canterbury in 1910, June quarter, 9b 620. Cissie's mother?[8]
  • In 1901 census, Florence C. Benge was a housemaid aged 20, employed by Stephen and Eliza Monckton, solicitor, at 6 Rocky Hill terrace, Maidstone (St Peters parish, Bridge ward); she was born in Lamberhurst. [9]
  • Etta remarried to Norman W.F. Fowler in 1968.[10]
  • 1933 passenger list for ship Ranpura, Peninsula and Orient Steam Nav Co (Lydia Hill, age 19, stenographer: passage from Singapore to Plymouth or London, arrival 12 May 1933. Accompanied by Fredk Hill Electrical engineer age 44 of 5 Moor View, Torpoint, Cornwall, Florence Hill age 47, and Douglas and Jean Hill, ages 15 and 13 scholars) NB: On that date Cissie was 19 yrs and her mother Florence was 44 yrs.

  • Canterbury Cathedral Archives catalogue, which includes a photo of Cissie Hill, ref. U461/2
  • Cissie's sister Etta F.V. Allchin (1912-2005)[11][12] and her husband Desmond Allchin (1909-1967) lived at Mayfair Court in 1945, but moved to one of the associated houses in the 1950s (no.141) and to the other in the 1960s (no.139) until Etta left shortly after her husband's death in 1967.[13]
