Actually. I have an idea for here now.

"Why do you want this anyway? You've been told, several times, not to put this redirect on either page. You've been fussing about without meaningfully contributing to the encyclopaedia in any way for months. You're clearly just wasting everyone's time for fun, and I would not be surprised to see both pages protected and your privileges revoked if you keep this up."

You see, when you've decided you've had enough of Wikipedia and you just want to leave, you can't. Editors feel the need to turn up and edit your own userpage, even if its just got a harmless redirect back to either a random page or the mainpage. Other users can have entire pages with thousands of words dedicated to attacking people, lording their "wikivictories" over them etc. But, apparently, I can't even be left alone on my own userpage to have a single redirect without the above kind of comment being directed at me. I do nothing you see, I am a worthless, meaningless peon because I've decided to leave paradise. So, they have to try and goad me into playing their game so they can drag me back to wikicourt, because they apparently enjoy that kind of thing.

I am not a troll. I am not "just here to waste everyone's time for fun". I have contributed over the years. Little by little yes, I don't spend hours every day on here. I am not obsessed with it. I've corrected articles here, reverted vandalism there. I've not vandalised anything, edit warred with anyone. I've not made a nuisance of myself over the 15+ years i've been here (October 2007 I believe it was). I was a quiet, unremarkable editor, just tweaking what issues and errors I happened to come across as I used the site for it's intended purpose. However, it seems once you decide you've had enough, and even their threats of sanctions against you are meaningless, you put a target on your back. I've had more attention from random editors in the last few days than I have ever had before. Suddenly everything I do is scrutinised, all my actions are "clearly just wasting time" and I haven't "meaningfully contributed for months" because apparently I am now suddenly only welcome here if I am writing a thesis every three hours. Suddenly I am on the radar and being attacked for everything I do, or don't do. Little hint guys; This isn't the way to convince people they were wrong about you and maybe they ought to reconsider and actually stay and participate again. You're just confirming all the reasons why I decided to throw in the towel. 'How dare he leave? we'll make him regret that' I highly doubt it, all you're making me regret is ever joining in the first place. I've even been directly told I need to log out because otherwise I am "not serious", justifying their harassment because apparently I am not even allowed to remain logged in (as I have for years, even when just browsing the site, I wasn't aware this was some horrific infraction, daring to be logged in) because apparently, being repeatedly pinged with notifications because you're logged in is *your* fault, not theirs, even though they're the ones finding every way they can to try and pick at you.

I am really tired of it, and the truly sad thing is just when I think it's stopped, and I think "good, they've grown up" and a slight tiny glimmer of "maybe in a week or two if I do noticed something awry, I'll correct it, fix the vandalism etc, whatever it may be, rather than ignoring it" just as I am starting to feel better about it all and not feel constantly attacked, yup another one feels the need to stick their oar in and it starts all over again. The threats, the insinuations about my character and my motivations and the "real reasons" behind my actions. I've even been accused of being a sockpuppet. They are reaching for *anything* they can, anything at all, to try and attack me with. Any avenue.

Right now, I really, look, I am not even angry. I just want to stop being harassed by what is clearly a cartel of users with some sort of vendetta. Let it go. I am not vandalising anything. I am not screaming obscenities on anyone's talk pages, (in fact all i've done is ask them as calmly and politely as I can to stop). Let whatever this thing you have against me is go. Just move on. There has to be something else you can do with your time, surely? Actual users who do need banning for offences committed or something. Those users who trash pages or post racist diatribes thinly disguised as "helpful edits". You guys must be outnumbered. Focus your efforts on those people, who are doing actual harm to your site. I am not. I am just no longer interested in being "part of the project" because it's extremely apparent from everything that has occurred how "the project" and it's members treat the *little guys*.

And if you are reading this and think "ooh i'll take him to ANI or whatever the wikicourt of choice is about this" just, please, drop it. There's no point. I've not made any personal attacks. I've not used foul language. I've not broken, to my knowledge, any rules. The only person i've been directly disparaging about is myself, which I have been previously informed is acceptable. Please stop wikilawyering everything to death. Touch grass, as my teenage stepson would said. SquireJames (talk) 08:23, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
