Week 10: Ideas for adding and editing the Wikipedia article "English in New Mexico"

-Expand the introduction to the article by adding more information about surrounding and influential languages in the area.

-Break the "history" section up and include a section about the specific phonetic and phonological properties found in the NM English variety

-Remove the information from the "history" section about viral parody videos imitating NM English because it does not seem to add any relevant or expanding information

-Clean up the "references" section and remove irrelevant and non-cited references

Article Evaluation after peer review:

-Remove "heavensentgaming.com" as a potential source

-Split the "history" section into several sections including history of NM (including languages spoken in the are and influential languages) and another section including information about specific phonetic and phonological properties found in this English variation

Peer Review[edit]

After reading through the article, talk page, and your edits, I think you're right on track - the edits you suggested will all be valuable in my opinion. I agree that the History section needs some revision - I'm not sure how exactly you're planning on splitting it up, but you might consider separating the first and second paragraphs into two sections, adding more information about the dialects/languages of the surrounding area and their influence on English in NM to the first paragraph, and adding more information about phonetic and phonological properties to the second paragraph. I agree that the reference to parody videos doesn't belong, and the reference list should be reviewed for unused sources. Overall, great work and good luck! Hello. I just thought I would let you know that "heavensentgaming.com" is not a reliable source for several reasons, and has been very aggressively spammed on Wikipedia in the past. Please do not use this source for articles on Wikipedia. The site's own about page also "implore[s] our fans not to use this encyclopedia as a source on Wikipedia" based on this history. Thanks.
