694 Flag of prince Ibrahim A red carnation (Dianthus libanotis) placed on a white background. In 1865, the first mutasarrif of Mount Lebanon Daoud Pasha attempted to bring back this flag for the Mutasarrifate but failed due to political reasons.[2]

1685 Flag of Lebanon according to the book "History of Christianity" published in Florence in 1685. The top half of the flag is white with a drawing of a cedar tree while the lower half is red with a drawing said to be of either an oak or juniper tree
