2024 ← Eurovision Song Contest

The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 was the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Zürich, Switzerland, following the country's victory at the 2024 contest with the song "The Code" by Nemo. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR). The contest was held at the Malmö Arena, and consisted of two semi-finals on 6 and 8 May, and a final on 10 May 2024. The three live shows were presented by me. This was the first edition of eurovision after Martin Österdahl stepped out from Executive supervisor role in favor of an actually competent person.

Fourty countries participated in the contest, with a major shift in the countries participating, as Andorra, Hungary, Montenegro, Romania and Turkey returned to the competition after years of absence, the debut of three new countries, with Kazakhstan, Kosovo and Lebanon participating for the first time, as well as five countries stepping out, Albania, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Georgia and Israel. With Israel in particular being banned from the competition for the next ten years due to the harassment caused by the Israeli delegation towards contestants from other countries in the previous edition.

This is a fictional eurovision concept created in response to the disastrous 2024 edition.

Location[edit]

Hallenstadion – venue of the 2025 contest

It took place in Zürich, Switzerland, following the country's victory at the 2024 contest with the song "The Code" by Nemo. This was the third time that Switzerland hosts the contest, having previously done so for the 1956 and 1989 contests, held in Lugano and Lausanne respectively.

Participating countries[edit]

Eligibility for participation in the Eurovision Song Contest requires a national broadcaster with an active EBU membership capable of receiving the contest via the Eurovision network and broadcasting it live nationwide. The EBU issues invitations to participate in the contest to all members.

On 5 December 2024, the EBU announced that 40 countries would participate in the 2025 contest. Morocco returned to the contest 45 years after its last participation in 1980. The other returning countries were Hungary, Montenegro, Romania and Turkey.

The contest features two returning artists: Marija Šerifović and Chanel, who previously represented Serbia in 2007 and Spain in 2022, respectively,

Production[edit]

This edition was made in response to the unsatisfying final for the 2024 edition, which had a completely heavy and negative energy due to the presence of Israel and Joost Klein's removal. Plus, the final result being a repeat of 2023, in which the public favorite ended in second with the jury favorite winning due to the massive advantage the jury gave it.

Initially, it was debated if Israel could participate with a more neutral song, that being "Buna" by TamaRadah, but it was ultimately decided against, and Israel was banned from this edition.

Format[edit]

Voting system and contest structure[edit]

In the semi finals, the jury gave 0 to 16 points to all countries, ranked from worst to best, with the ten countries with the most points movint to the final together with Switzerland and the big five. In the final, each of the voters gave 12, 10 and 8 to 1 points to their 10 favorite songs in four categories: Enjoyment, vocals, performance and returnability, as well as a surprise jury score.

Semi-final allocation draw[edit]

There was no need for pots to separate neighbor countries, as the voters were all from non-european countries.
