The Pass of Brander is a narrow mountain pass linking Loch Awe and Loch Etive in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The River Awe runs through the pass whilst to the north lies the Munro of Ben Cruachan.[1]

The pass is notable for being the site of several battles throughout Scottish history. The most famous is the Battle of the Pass of Brander in which Robert the Bruce defeated Clan MacDougall in 1308.[2]

In 1756 a military road was constructed running through the pass. Later this road was extended to Oban and became the A85 road during the 20th century.

A railway line, originally part of the Callendar and Oban Railway, through the Pass of Brander was opened in July 1880. The Stone Signals help warn trains of dangerous rockfalls in the pass.
