Mike Dempsey

Michael David Dempsey (born February 9, 1957) is a local FM radio on-air personality for WEFM 95.9 radio in Michigan City, Indiana. He is the host of the Lunchtime Oldies show on WEFM, Monday through Friday. In the year 2004, Mike created the Tropical Oldies Show which still airs every Saturday throughout the summer. With Michigan City located on the southern shores of Lake Michigan, Mike and his Tropical Oldies Show highlight and promote the "paradise" atmosphere that Michigan City summers are famous for. By doing live-remote broadcasts, Mike travels all over the shores of Lake Michigan playing the classic hits of Jimmy Buffett, The Beach Boys, Bob Marley and all of the old-time summer songs that take people back in time to when life seemed more laid back and pleasurable. In 2008, Bud Light Lime, Corona Light and Jimmy Buffett's beer, Land Shark Lager, all signed on to be sponsors of the Tropical Oldies Show with Mike Dempsey.

Mike, 55, is a registered Democrat, was born in Columbia City, Indiana and moved to Michigan City when his family relocated in 1958. His father was transferred to the area to be the manager of the local Western Union office, where he worked for 30 years.

Mike has a Golden Retriever that was featured on the the Hoosier Lottery Scratch Off game ticket called Lucky Dog. Mike is the former President of the Washington Park Zoological Society, a Board member of the Michigan City Summer Festival Committee, Chairman of the Michigan City Drum and Bugle Corp Committee, a member and former Board member of the Michigan City Exchange Club and a 3rd Degree Master Mason.
