ONAMISHU VILLAGE[edit]

About Onamishu Village[edit]

Onamishu is a village at the northern part of Namibia in Oshikoto region, Eengodi constituency. It is about 10 kilometers from omuthiya. Big towns are very far and people travel long distances for basic services. You can mostly find wambo speaking people but you can also find other few tribes, like san tribe. It is a small village and majority of people practice agricultural activity like crop growing. It is less developed with less concentration of people. People always experience network problems.

Developments[edit]

There is a clinic that opens from 8 am to 5 pm providing medical service to people living there. There is also a combined school from grade 1 up to grade 10. Parents take their children here instead of far and expensive schools that they can not afford. District councilor’s office was also built there. Home affairs duties are being performed there bringing this service close to the residents. Church goers were also given an upstairs church that they fail to fill up until today. There is tapped water but those who can not afford it still use wells to draw water for them selves and for their domestic animals. There is electricity but not everybody have access to it. People travel long distances in search for power to have their phone charged.

Land usage [edit]

Land is used for livestock farming and crop farming. People keep domestic animals like cattle and goats. Researches have revealed that Sheep can not adapt to the climate there because it is hot and no enough grass for them. The most water land areas are used for crop farming. They grow crops like mahangu (Millet) and Maize to sustain throughout the year. The land used for community activities is approximately 1598 km2 and an the least is covered by a denser vegetation of trees and shrubs.

Form of Transports at Onamishu[edit]

People mostly use donkeys as a form of transport. They carry their goods on the backs of donkeys and sometimes they can even ride on them. Donkeys are also used to pull donkey carts. There are no tired roads or either gravel roads. Small car can not reach there due to poor roads facilities, so people mostly use tractors and other big cars like Toyota 4х4s.
