The Old Manchu Archives are sets of documents written in Old Manchu that cover a variety of events surrounding the rise of the Jurchen and Manchu state from 1607 to 1636, during the reigns of Nurhaci (1559–1626) and Hung Taiji (r. 1626–1643).
Origins[edit]
In 1607, Erdeni and others started recording the political events of Nurhaci's reign. Their writings formed the core of what would later become known as the Old Manchu Archives.[1]
