The Evanston Railway Company was the operator of a streetcar line in Evanston, Illinois.
Route[edit]
North on Chicago Avenue from Howard Street to Dempster. West on Dempster to Sherman then north on Sherman to Central Street. West on Central to Lincolnwood. The North Shore and Western Railway operated as an extension of this line running south on Lincolnwood from Central Street to Harrison Street (present day Old Orchard Road) then west on Harrison Street to the Glenview Golf Club at Harms Woods.[1]

Chicago & Evanston Electric Railway Co. (1891) → Chicago North Shore Street Railway Co. (1892) → {acquired by} North Chicago Electric Railway Co. (1894) → Chicago Consolidated Traction Co. [sic?] (1899) → {acquired by} Chicago Railways Co. city & County Traction Co. suburbs (1910) → Evanston Railway Co. Evanston & Chicago and West Towns Railway Co. western suburbs (1913)[2]
Evanston Electric Railway Co. (1895)???
Opened in sections working as a continuous route from Evanston to Lincoln Park. (County Traction?) Chicago Union Traction Court ordered the company split into lines within and without Chicago. The portion of the line north of Howard Street (the Evanston portion) became the Evanston Railway Company while the lines west of Chicago became the Chicago and West Towns Railway.
Converted to buses in 1935. In 1937 company merged with ____ to form the Evanston Bus Company.
