Shau (Sho), or Lìsháù, is a nearly extinct Kainji language of Nigeria.

General information[edit]

Shau, also known as Lìsháù, is an endangered East Kainji language spoken in Nigeria.[1] It belongs to the Niger-Congo family of languages, which is Africa’s largest language family in terms of geographical distribution and number of speakers.[citation needed] It is spoken in different locations such as Bauchi State, Toro, Shau and Mana villages.[citation needed] Unfortunately, Shau is nearly extinct, and the exact population of its speakers remains unknown.[citation needed]
