Suzannah Fiskum, known professionally as Zan Fiskum, is an American folk-pop singer and songwriter from Maple Valley, Washington.[1] Fiskum is known for her performances on The Voice in Season 18, in which she was one of the top 9 finalists.[2]

Early Life[edit]

Fiskum was born and raised in Maple Valley, Washington.[1][3][4] Her mother was, and still is a piano teacher which had a great deal to do with all of Fiskum's siblings being involved in music.[1]

Throughout her adolescence Fiskum became involved in plays and musicals.[1] To her parents surprise she was comfortable and expressive on stage though offstage she was considered "very shy".[1] Fiskum graduated from Tahoma High School in 2015.[3]

After high school Fiskum moved to Lakeland, Florida where she studied music at Southeastern University.[3]

The Voice[edit]

Fiskum was a contestant of The Voice, Season 18.[2] Her first performance on the show resulted in high praise from all the judges.[4] Three of the four judges turned their chair after she sang “Light on” by Maggie Rogers.[4] Fiskum ultimately chose John Legend's team.[4] There she stayed until she was later eliminated, making it to the Top 9.[1][5] Fiskum performed her final performance virtually due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, in her renovated RV.[6][5]

Fiskum continues to keep in touch with her coach, John Legend after her time on The Voice. Since the show, she has performed on tour with John Legend and Dave Matthews.[7]

Fiskum has been vocal about the effect of the Covid 19 pandemic on artists and continues to be an advocate for all musicians to keep making music despite the challenges of staging live performances.[7] Currently, Fiskum continues to perform at the mercy of Covid 19 restrictions and is expected to release of two new EP's later in 2022.[7]
