Kwaku Adade Takyi (born November 10, 1939) is an Ghanaian Military and business magnate, philanthropist and investor.

Colonel (Rtd) Kwaku Adade Takyi was born in 1939 at Mampong in the Ashanti Region of Ghana (West Africa)
Biography[edit]
He had his Secondary school education at the government secondary technical school, Takoradi between 1954 and 1959. He was attracted to military life and left the university of science and technology, now Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & technology (KNUST), where he had been enrolled in 1959 to attend the regular officers special training school in Accra in 1960. Later, he was sent to the world famous Royal Military Academy at SandHurst in the United Kingdom graduating in summer 1962.
Upon his return to Ghana, he served in the 1st Battalion of infantry. He also attended several military courses after this including: Long Armour career course in Fort Knox, Kentucky in U.S.A., in 1969 Command and staff college at Kingston, Ontario in Canada, 1970. International Defense Management course at the Naval Graduate Management School, Monterrey, in California, U.S.A., in 1977 He held various command positions in the army including: Company commander, 5th Battalion of infantry at Tamale in 1963. Brigade Major, 1st infantry Brigade. Battalion commander, 1st Battalion of infantry, Michel camp, Tema. Military secretary, Ghana Army. Commandant, Military Academy and Training School, Accra. It was in this position that he had the singular honor of hosting the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, Heir to the British throne, at a graduating parade held in the Princes' honor in March 1977.
In 1972, while serving in the Ghana Army, Colonel Takyi was seconded to then Cocoa Marketing Board as deputy executive chairman. He was promoted after 18 months to become the Chief Executive. Colonel Takyi’s three year assignment at the board saw some of monumental developments in the cocoa industry, including: The administrative structure of the Board was completely re-organized, to bring all subsidiaries which the COCOBOD financed under its umbrella. This period also saw the establishment of health facilities under the direct control and supervision of the board. The first and more innovative reason was to provide medical facilities in as many cocoa growing areas, as possible, for the benefit of cocoa farmers and their families. Second was to provide high standard medical care for staff and family economically, while preventing abusing of sick leaves.
Under executive guidance this new project was entrusted to a young physician, now Professor Paul Kwame of the University of Ghana Medical School, and equally young and able surgeon, Dr. Kwadwo Owusu who is now director of Cocoa Clinics. The concept of cocoa clinics was born, and materialized at Tema, Takoradi, Accra, and Tepa. Later several clinics were added to go into the more remote parts of the Cocoa growing areas throughout the country. The success story of the Cocoa Clinic at Kaneshie, which now benefiting the vision of colonel Takyi’s tenure at the board. On the international scene, colonel Takyi was elected chairman of the cocoa Producer’s Alliance in 1974.

Takyi is a well-motivated, hardworking and personable officer who has achieved good results on the course. He has good background knowledge and experience in his own forces and this, together with thorough preparation for assignments and a logical approach to problem-solving, has enable him to make an effective contribution to syndicate work. His contributions on jungle and mountain warfare, and counter-guerrilla operatives, have been particularly useful. He has participated actively in discussions and offered sound, well-reasoned opinions. He has a good sense of humour, works well as a member of a team and is popular with his fellow officers. He expresses himself well both orally and in writing. Takyi has been a very good representative of the Ghanaian Forces during his year at the college. He has good potential for command and staff employment, and is ready now for command of a battalion in his own forces.
