List of Diffs[edit]

Insertion of racist terms[edit]

  • Changing "raiders" to "raiding kaffirs". Although "kaffir people" was used historically to refer to a segment of the native South African population, it is now an ethnic slur, and even then was quite poorly-defined. diff
  • Used to try to illustrate racial segregation in commemorating the Battle of Blood River, using factually incorrect information (see below) diff Subsequently "legitamised" by capitalising the word. diff
  • Stating that the meaning of the name of the Mpumalanga province was in "a local kaffir language" diff
  • Creating a whole page, with frequent usage of the term "kaffir", and claims that boers were more successful due to a difference in IQ. (The reference used seems to be a favourite of white supremacists) original version

Inserting unsubstantiated, POV "facts"[edit]

  • Johannesburg being the most dangerous city in the world diff
  • Removing statement that non-whites couldn't vote. (A virtually powerless separate government was put in place for Coloured and Indian people, but only in the 80's).diif
  • Rephrasing of another page, on the same premise [1]
  • Changing "the first Democratic Elections in 1994" to "the start of black rule" diff
  • Totally unsubstantiated conspiracy theory that the government plans to drop "Natal" from "KwaZulu-Natal", because it is of Afrikaans origin. (It actually originated from Portugese explorers, and the province was better known for being under English control...) diff
  • Calling the current government incompetent. (OK, the sentence expanded was pretty poor to begin with.) diff
  • Adding the "fact" that the "Day of the Vow" was called "Dingane's Day" by "blacks" (first edit was a racial slur, see above). (Presumably because it had a Zulu name in it, (s)he assumed it must have been used by Zulus.) A little investigation turned up that this was in fact an Afrikaner name for the day. diff

Other obstructive behaviour[edit]

  • Moving kaffir (ethnic slur) to Kaffir (South African usage), regardless of there being mention on the page of its use in Jamaica, and of there being a higher-level disambiguation page. It is likely that the user was in some sense trying to legitamise the use of an extremely offensive term. diff
  • Creating a page to be a political soapbox, incorporating racist terminology [6], then reverting back to the original biased version more than three times when other users attempted to rewrite the page page history.
