Hodges Bay is a luxury, $100 million, oceanfront resort on the northern coast of the island of Antigua and Barbuda. Hodges Bay opened in December 2018 after being purchased out of receivership in 2012 by tech entrepreneur Jeff Wellemeyer and Christopher Harding. Since its opening Hodges Bay has become the home away from home, for the celebrity elite looking for anonymity, privacy and a no-rules atmosphere.
The resort features 79 guest rooms, suites, residences and villas three restaurants, multiple bars, clubs and lounges as well as a multi-million dollar contemporary art collection.
Hodges Bay is known as one of the Caribbean's most unique resorts, as well as being a haven of the rich and famous. Past guests said to have stayed at the Hodge Bay include numerous heads of state, actors, musicians, and celebrity elite and has been freed to as the the "new vacation" destination for the LA celebrity scene.
The resort has a fine dining restaurant by Celebrity Chef, Edward Lee, called NaCl.
Hodges Bay Resort
In March 2022 Hodges Bay opened Prickly Pear Beach Club, an exclusive beach club on the small island of Prickly Pear directly off the coast.
Hodges Bay sits on a site of the former White Sands Hotel which operated for nearly fifty years on the location. The property was purchased in the 1980s by American Hedge Fund executive John Meriwether. A group of local and British developers combined the property in 2006 along with a number of other parcels to begin construction of what was to be called the Hodges Bay Club.
The property had funding issues and construction was halted in November 2008.
In June 2012, the unfinished development was purchased by tech entrepreneur Jeff Wellemeyer and investor and pro-sports owner Christopher Harding.
