Jon Dron is a Full Professor at Athabasca University, Canada working in the School of Computing & Information Systems, researching mainly in the fields of technology and learning.

Jon formerly worked at the University of Brighton, UK, where he received his PhD and MSc. At the time he left, he was a Principal Lecturer, and Head of Learning Environments in the Faculty of IT. In 2005, he was the university's first National Teaching Fellow.

Throughout the 80s and early 90s, he was a singer/guitarist, specializing in swing and jazz, working in the Brighton area and beyond.
