Some soldiers of the coalition forces have refused to participate in the War in Afghanistan (2001–present). The following is a list of the more notable military personnel who have refused to participate in this war, broadly categorized by the reasons they themselves give.
Military ranks are those held by the servicemember at the time of their act of public resistance.

Objectors claiming the war is illegal[edit]
- Victor Agosto (U.S. Army Specialist) - Fort Hood soldier who refused to obey any orders preparing his unit to deploy to Afghanistan. Sentenced to 30 days is jail at a Summary Court-Martial at Fort Hood, TX.
- Joe Glenton (U.K. Army Lance Corporal)[4][5]
Conscientious objectors[edit]
For purposes of this list, the determination of conscientious objection is made by the individual, not a government. It is frequently the case that individuals and governments disagree on the status.
- Travis Bishop, (U.S. Army Sergeant) - Amnesty International Prisoner of Conscience[6] - Fort hood soldier who went AWOL on the day of his scheduled deployment to Afghanistan. Bishop returned to post about one week later and filed for conscientious objection status. He was convicted of desertion, missing movement and failure to obey a lawful order at a U.S. Army Special Court-Martial at Fort Hood, Texas.Cite error: A
