A slice of bumbleberry pie

Bumbleberry pie is a type of sweet pie baked traditionally in Canada. Its main fillings are berries, rhubarb, and apple, although plums or other soft fruit can be added. Its crust is usually a plain short crust.

Pioneer origins[edit]

Folk wisdom holds that bumbleberry pie comes from pioneer traditions, since its exact ingredients can be easily adjusted to accomodate which fruits are available to the baker. There is no particular fruit which bears the name "bumbleberry."
