Welcome to the Missouri Wikimedians User Group. We are in the application process to become an official Wikimedia user group in the U.S. state of Missouri. The goal of the user group is to support and develop the Wikimedia movement and community in Missouri.

Objectives[edit]

Expand awareness of Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects to people who live and work in Missouri
Invite community members to participate in knowledge development and knowledge equity activities
Improve Wikimedia projects through edit events, educational programs, and other outreach
Serve as a community to connect existing and new Wikimedians with and around free knowledge

History[edit]

Prior to the formation of the Missouri Wikimedians, most of the activity focused around WikiProject St. Louis. There have been a few Wikimedia meetups and events in Missouri which typically occurred in and around St. Louis. These events include meetups, edit-a-thons, and Wiknics. Several contributors connected in mid-2018 and decided to get a group restarted. Some of the interest in the group is to develop and enhance content on Wikimedia projects connected to Missouri.
