Introduction[edit]
Citius altius fortius is my formal project to create a featured topic for the Olympic Games. The idea is to create a topic with the Olympic Games as the flag article. The Winter Olympics, Summer Olympics, and Ancient Olympics articles would all be key featured articles. The Paralympics and Youth Olympics would need to be at least GA, hopefully FA. I would then add every year at Olympic Games starting with the 1896 Summer Olympics. I could also see adding List of participating nations at the Winter Olympic Games and List of participating nations at the Summer Olympic Games as they are generic enough lists to qualify for the topic. Given the new Featured topic threshold of 50% featured articles there would need to be a minimum 29 featured articles/lists by my estimation. I would like to blow past that minimum requirement though. That's a tall order, especially given the state many of the articles are currently in. Some of the articles cannot be expanded past GA quality. This is usually due to a lack of quality sources. I don't have time to assess where I think each one will end up right now so I'll make the goal that all of them reach FA and then downgrade the goal as I work through the articles. The assessments of where the articles are currently at are completely my own with very little investigation. Really it isn't that important where they are at now so I'm not going to spend a lot of time assessing their current status.
Ok, major changes are being made to the project after a discussion here. I think the project will be broken up into three featured topics. The first will be the general topic (Citius) on the Olympic Games. The other two featured topics will actually be subtopics. The main articles will be the Summer Olympics (Altius) and Winter Olympics (Fortius) with each YEAR at Summer/Winter Olympics under their respective main article. I will probably include the lists of participating countries in each subtopic though this could be changed. I will add a plethora of articles to the general topic. Below I have broken the table into the three Featured Topics. Since my energy and momentum has been moving in the Winter Olympics direction I'll keep going in that area. If anyone would care to join me in this effort please contact me on my talk page. I would appreciate the help because it will be an Olympic task.
