The Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club (PFSYC) is a yacht club in Perth, Western Australia.

Early history[edit]

The "Perth Yacht and Boat Club" in 1880 was able to build a jetty at the foot of William Street in Perth Water. Perth Yacht Club received the Royal Charter in 1890. The club shifted to Crawley in 1953 when the William Street site became unusable. [1]

America's Cup[edit]

This club staged the unsuccessful 1987 America's Cup defence at Fremantle following the 1983 victory at Newport, USA, of Australia II—ending the New York Yacht Club's 132-year domination of the event. The entrance road that the RPYC is on was commemoratively renamed 'Australia II Drive'.

Annex[edit]

To comply with the requirements for entering the America's Cup races, RPYC opened an annex at Fremantle.[2]

Club flag[edit]

At a general meeting in 1891, the old blue PYC burgee was replaced with a triangular St George's Cross with a St Edward's crown in the upper canton.
