The statue in Liverpool

Sea Trek was a Mormon church project in 2001 to remember the exodus from Europe during the 1800s century. Eight sailing ships were rented (Statsraad Lehmkuhl, Christian Radich, Sorlandet, Europa, Swan Fan Makkum, Antigua, Mir, Dar Mlodziez) from many countries and sailed from Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway to England. An identical statue was donated to a number of port cities visited during the project.[1] Four ships were to proceed from Portsmouth to New York. But since they did not get paid, two of the ships broke the trip at Canary Islands and only two fulfilled the trip to New York.

The afterwords was many unpaid bill and badwill for the Mormons since the ships and many small companies never got paid (fireworks, sound equipment, etc).[2] The organizer (William "Bill" K Sadleir) has never taken the responsibility and the Mormon church said it had never been their project.
