Clock Vandalism[edit]

Hello, you sent me a message concerning the "testing" on the Clock page. I did not post that up, but simply erased it. It appeared more like vandalism to me. The user had also posted similar nonsense on the Algerian Civil war page. (Unsigned message from IP address).

Op Meghdoot[edit]

Hi, while there are no set rules for See Also section, I found that during the process of nominating Kargil War article for Featured Article (FA) status, some users expressed that the section was redundant (atleast for a FA status) and thus I try to include all that can be incorporated directly into the article. Some other inclusions do deserver a separate See Also section for further reading within Wikipedia. Normally these links are those that can't be included in the article but surely need to be mentioned. And I've prepared a list of closely linked operations in the Kashmir area as well and others. Please take a look now and probably the idea should be clear. Thanks. Idleguy 03:52, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Deletion[edit]

In addition to {{subst:afd}} for Articles for Deletion, there is also {{subst:prod|reason for deletion}} if you want to use Wikipedia:Proposed deletion (which is a good idea if you don't think this will be a contentious issue and the article obviously falls short of accepted guidelines) or {{db|reason for speedy deletion}} if this falls under the criteria at Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. In the specific case of Totalise, this could have been tagged as {{copyvio|www.thewebsitecontentisfrom.com}} and then add it to to the appropriate Wikipedia:Copyright problems subpage. Of course it is always courtesy to contact the originator first and explain the issues with the article.--Isotope23 16:33, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Reminder...[edit]

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

Your edit, which you described as "Expansion + cleanup", in fact consisted solely of the addition (wrongly "subst"ed) of {{fact}} (which is neither expansion nor clean-up). As the information is given in the web pages provided in the "sources" section, it's not clear why you added this in any case. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 13:04, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Howdy![edit]

I just complete reading the revised article of the "Four Dead in Five Seconds gunfight" and I was pleasantly surprised to see what a great job you did! It was very clear. This gunfight was pretty confusing for many so it posed some challenge to try make the contents clear and who did what.

Being pretty new to here, I would, very much, like to learn how you did the formats. It was professionally done and would enjoy creating more of these like yours. I find it very educational and relaxing coming to Wikipedia when I'm hungry for new information.

Thank you so much and please do continue to provide me with feedbacks. My hat off and good day!

They're not updating the statistics, they're changing it to show the old Taliban flag and changing the leader to Mohammed Omar. It's simple vandalism, in my opinion, it's probably the work of Lazistan (talk · contribs), who I caught uploading Jihad flags to the Lazistan article. Ciao. —Khoikhoi 19:58, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, the reason why the talk page was empty is because they have a dynamic IP (it changes all the time), but if you look at the history of the page all the IPs that have been changing it start with 87. List it on WP:RPP for semi-protection if it gets worse. —Khoikhoi 20:03, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Grammar[edit]

In June 2005 and On June 2005. Which sounds better? This concerns your edit to Daniel5127's userpage. ForestH2.

Hmm, if it was a specific date, such as 9th August 2006, I'd say on, but, in retrospect, in is probably more suitable here. There's no real point in reverting the page so many times, though- we could offer to help with his English, and perhaps correct his userpage for him, but I'd only do this with his consent- some users get (perhaps understandably) upset at repeated edits to their userpage.
Do you know the IP address that's been making the edits by any chance?
(Comment reposted at appropriate page/title here changed for spelling, previously grammer).

I am growing increasingly shortempered about reverts for the wrong reasons. If people have questions/concerns about my edits then the proper thing to do is to ask for clarification rather than blindly revert well-meant contributions, which is happening all to often. I guess it is time for me to move on, and stop wasting my time and energy on contributing to Wikipedia. JdH 12:40, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Leo the Lion (MGM)[edit]

Hi there - why did you add the cleanup tag to Leo the Lion (MGM)? I have removed it as the page does not seem to be in an "unfit state", so to speak. I apologise for my somewhat rude language, but if you could leave a message on the Leo the Lion talk page why you think it needs to be cleaned up, it would be appreciated (alternatively, talk to me).

Conseil National de la Résistance[edit]

Thanks for your reply to my Help Desk query. I finished translating the French article and placed it at Conseil National de la Résistance as you suggested. The article didn't turn out as interesting as I had thought; it's largely a laundry list of the individuals and groups who founded it, and doesn't go into detail on the actual guerilla activity the Conseil coordinated (if any). The article could do with some copyediting; when I translate from French, I usually end up with a lot of run-on sentences that do not flow very well in English. --Mathew5000 19:43, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the copyediting job! A definite improvement. I reworked the article a little bit. I took out the reference to the Appeal of June 18 because as far as I can tell that speech did not directly encourage resistance movements inside France; it sought recruits for the Free French Forces (i.e. uniformed military rather than guerilla fighters). There was another phrase in the original French article saying essentially that Moulin was "captured on a denunciation". I think that the terminology is meant to imply that somebody betrayed Moulin to the SS; see the article Jean Moulin. It isn't exactly NPOV if that's what it's supposed to mean, so I just took it out of the English article. I also took out the word "kidnapping", which implies that the SS had no legal right to take him. I think that "capture" is the most NPOV term to use there, but "arrest" is also accurate considering that the German military forces were governing French territory at the time. --Mathew5000 20:20, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

A short Esperanzial update[edit]

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
