Lyfe is an emerging concept that expands the traditional definition and conceptualization of biological Life.


The traditional conceptualization associates Life with aspects of matter entailing biological processes, in particular self-sustaining and replication processes, distinguishing it from lifeless matter not capable of growth, reaction to stimuli, metabolism, energy transformation, and reproduction. Familiar biological life includes plants, animals, and fungi. Biologists recognize recognize protists, archaea, and bacteria. Viruses are biological structures that thrive on living organism, but their status as living organism is often debated.
