From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Censorship is one of the greatest gift of the modern era. It helps humanity advance while maintaining a basic level level of control. Truly, it is a pleasure to have something as precious as censorship, but there are those who do not share my view. We all have the freedom of choice, but don't we sometimes have to take a step back and consider the reality of the situation?

If Wikipedia was censored....[edit]

Imagine the glory and the pride we would all feel if Wikipedia was finally censored. Many would think of this as disastrous, but it is in fact quite the opposite. Here is what really would happen if wikipedia was (finally) censored:

  1. We would proudly be able to tell the world that all our content is suitable for under 18s.
  2. Visitor numbers would rapidly rise, driven by curiosity of such a fantastic policy, curiosity that would eventually lead to satisfaction.
  3. Slowly, after the peak, visitor numbers would rise again, putting us in the top 5 across the whole internet.
  4. Then, major news-papers would report on this bold move, increasing our popularity further.
  5. This, in turn, will lead to a greater number of permanent readers and intellectuals (subject experts) reading Wikipedia.
  6. Some of these readers will become editors, meaning yet more content is generated.
  7. Teachers and parents will no longer feel it is necessary to filter Wikipedia, as well as encouraging their students/children to visit Wikipedia and use it as an educational resource.
  8. This will have a knock-on positive impact on humanity. When people are less exposed to negative content, negative behavior decreases.
  9. Our editors will be more satisfied with themselves for helping humanity, even though they received no rewards in the process.
  10. Teamwork and trust among editors will increase, helping to rapidly move the encyclopedia forward.
