On September 11, 1982, a Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed onto Bundesautobahn 656 near Mannheim, Germany during an airshow. The helicopter exploded upon impact, killing all forty-six people on it, including eight U.S. military personnel.[1][2]
