YTS is a website that provides a directory of torrent files and magnet links used for peer-to-peer file sharing through the BitTorrent protocol.[2] According to the TorrentFreak news blog, YTS is the second most popular torrent website as of 2020.[3]
History[edit]
YTS is the unofficial successor of the defunct YTS or YIFY group.[2] In October 2016, it introduced a website redesign with new functionalities. YTS.ag site took over the YTS YIFY brand when the original group threw in the towel in 2015, and two years later it was traded for YTS.am domain as successor. In June 2019, the torrent site moved yet again to a new domain, YTS.lt, using the Lithuanian top-level domain. It is possible that the domain change was in part triggered by blocking efforts around the world.[4]
Nonetheless, current YTS (YIFY) group has amassed a massive userbase, with millions of daily visitors and is one of the most-visited torrent site on the Internet. The site specializes in movie releases, adding several new titles on an average day.
