My dear Tyler![edit]

First of all, my dear Tyler, what can I tell you but that I'm so heart rendingly grateful to you for your enthusiasm over my RfA, and all you're doing for me :) As you may understand, hun, I'm currently investing all of my time in answering concerns of both that process and the Featured candidacy of my Portal - aaaah I'll go crazy! :) So I promise you a lengthier, and warmer reply once we're done, k? What are referring to with the sockpuppet allegations, hun? I must tell you I don't have a clue, mind to give me more info please? Hugs! Phaedriel The Wiki Soundtrack! - 22:36, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Oh! yes, I noticed that, but I cannot produce any evidence in that sense, hun. I can only tell you that Thewolfstar indeed has a personal issue with me because I endorsed her ban by Bishonen for disruption. She repeatedly vandalized my Talk page with insulting messages afterwards, and I tried to reason with her once (I used my sandbox for that; it has since been deleted, but you as admin can see the deleted revisions). However, beyond the suspicion expressed by Bunchofgrapes and Bishonen, I can't establish any connection between her and Lingeron. I prefer to leave the matter closed, if that's okay with her. I just replied her concerns, and I hope we can all move into more positive things now :) Hugs, my dear Tyler, and talk to you pretty soon, I hope! ;) Phaedriel The Wiki Soundtrack! - 22:53, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

adminship[edit]

Glad to hear that! Tony 08:33, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Brady Bunch imagery[edit]

XD Nice analogy. I'll take care of it over on Final Fantasy VIII as well. By the way, I'm getting myself in too deep, I think. I'm about to start working on Shadow of the Colossus too. :( I don't know when to quit, it would seem. Ryu Kaze 18:33, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Ah, hell. And we've still got to get Final Fantasy X-2 to FA, as well. At least most of the work's already done there (I think). Ryu Kaze 18:36, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
XD That's harsh. To be honest, I'm not particularly interested in working on Final Fantasy VII either. I like the game and all, but I really am not eager to work on it. Ryu Kaze 18:40, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

I think that's part of why I'm not interested in bothering with it. Ryu Kaze 18:43, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes, indeed. I see why so many people like her. Ryu Kaze 18:55, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Bulbasaur[edit]

I don't think there should be anything negative stem from it. Like you, I believe it will enhance the position. Ryu Kaze 19:01, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

It's OK[edit]

I'm not upset. It's part of the process. We put things up for review; we accept the review. Might have been a good idea to reduce the block instead of lifting it, leaving some in place for general disruption, though. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 05:24, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

You know...[edit]

I think I'm getting more comfortable at this. I've already finished making my adjustments to Shadow of the Colossus. Ryu Kaze 19:03, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I think it's still lacking something in Gameplay (maybe mention that the entire landscape, as well as the colossi, are all rendered in real-time), and I'm doubtful that the PAL image is going to make it past Peer Review. If you have any specific suggestions, feel free to lay them on us. Ryu Kaze 19:29, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Well, I certainly don't want to be simultaneously working on five FACs, but I've not yet gotten to where I'm feeling stretched too thin. In any event, I respect your input, so if you have any suggestions off the top of your head, I'd give them due consideration. Ryu Kaze 19:33, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
True enough. I think those three are going to make it. We've addressed everything that's come up. I think we'll be able to get X-2 there without too much blood and sweat from here. I tried addressing everything while working on it a few weeks ago. I'm really proud of it. And, really, I feel like Shadow will do okay, as well, but I can't stop feeling like there's something I've not yet thought of. Ryu Kaze 19:38, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. ^^ Ryu Kaze 19:48, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm guessing he didn't realize that it was a work-in-progress thing. I figured they probably weren't familiar with the way we copyedit, so while I was working on it yesterday and today, I mostly tried adding a summary message that said something like "temporary measure" or "beginning process" so they wouldn't think I intended to leave it like that. Personally, I prefer our style of doing a little at a time and seeing how it shapes up as you go. Trying to do it all at once, you're either going to end up with an edit conflict or overlook something you would have seen otherwise.
In any event, if you don't want to assist, I understand. I'd still appreciate any constructive criticism you could provide, though I'll sorely miss your copyediting run-through. :( Ryu Kaze 20:29, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Oh, and Steel359 added this on my page in response to your concerns:
"One user =/= all users. Most of us are grateful for the help."
Tani probably just jumped the gun because of unfamiliarity, like you said. Steel's got a pretty good head on his/her shoulders, though, from what I've seen and is rather patient. Ryu Kaze 20:35, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Lingeron[edit]

I decided to unblock Lingeron so we can get some more evidence, especially since controversy was starting to erupt. If this ends up being incorrect and based on speculation, it could lead to severe consequences. I had to take the safe route, at least for the time being. — Deckiller 04:00, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

I apologize if this issue looks like bad practice — some objections were raised, and I wanted to make sure we had all the cards out on the table before we kept a block in place. I do think that, even if Lingeron isn't a sockpuppet, we should block he/she for the other issues. — Deckiller 06:45, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Could you link to a diff of the controversy? Again, it's fine if we want to run check user, but check user policy is to not request in the case of the obvious. I don't think there really can be severe consequences. Everyone is following policy in the various areas. Since I haven't had to deal with the user much, it's fine if she's unblocked while a check user request is processed. Geogre 11:44, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Oh, and don't sweat the lifting, etc. You did the right thing. I blocked an obvious one. Questions arose, and that's all it should take to shorten the block -- no hard feelings. The questions were valid. Check user followed. Confirmation came. Block reinstated. That's absolutely fine and no hard feelings toward anyone. Shoot, it's all encouraging for me. I wish more indef blocks were carefully considered. Geogre 12:08, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks; glad to see it's all been taken care of now...until the next sock :) — Deckiller 19:55, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

why do you keep deleting (Eric Verbin)? How can I get it so that I can create the page again?

Thanks[edit]

Thanks. I'm not sure if I wrote what you're referring to, but I wrote all the arguments against their inclusion in the issue summaries. Ryu Kaze 22:17, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

I intend to remove them again. XD Ryu Kaze 22:25, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Those too. Ryu Kaze 22:35, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Oh. XD Well, that's fair enough. I'll be looking forward to any advice or other assistance, but don't feel obligated if you're not comfortable with it due to unfamiliarity with the game. Ryu Kaze 22:38, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
By the way, as a random aside, I highly recommend Shadow of the Colossus. While I think Final Fantasy VIII probably has the best story of any game I've played, I do have to say that Shadow is my favorite in many ways. To quote what my co-author said while writing this thing's plot analysis FAQ:
"Shadow of the Colossus is more than just a video game. It is a spiritual experience, and that is very much the point. A game which is so totally about immersion and atmosphere to the point where it doesn't require much of anything to happen.
Or, more precisely, it's a work of art. In a way few games could hope to or would want to be."
Plaaaayyyy it. I think it's supposed to be going Greatest Hits soon anyway. Ryu Kaze 00:50, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Just noticed your e-mails. I'll see if I can weed out any of the things like "very little". Ryu Kaze 02:14, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

User:Zebani[edit]

I've no problem with an indef block on Zebani. I just wanted to get something in place quickly to stop him. If you want to unblock/reblock indef you'll have my full support. Thanks, Gwernol 22:27, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Then let's leave it at 24 hours and see what happens when he comes back. I'll leave him a message about NPOV. Gwernol 22:32, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Star Wars : Phantom Menace[edit]

I apologise if I offended you - I Just think the cast section needs a cleanup and nobody seemed to care (including the nominator), and when they said the two articles I cited (both written by Dmoon1, a dedicated Star Wars project member by the way) had awful cast sections, I was very annoyed because the user had nothing other than personal taste to back up his claim. 2. a. of "What is a featured article?" states somewhere that list type sections create disjointed prose which is hard to follow and isn't recommended. The nominator cited Blade Runner, but I think it should be up for review since it was FA'd nearly a year ago. Anyway, my apologies. LuciferMorgan 01:32, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Xenosaga[edit]

Ah, I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the work you've done on the Xenosaga articles ^^; I'm hoping I can help sometime in the future since I absolutely love the series, but you and the others you've worked with have done an awesome job. --melodiester 02:54, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Sounds good. I can't wait to play it in English and understand what I didn't get in Japanese. I look forward to the progress in the articles as well! --melodiester 03:03, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

FFX-2[edit]

I think so too. Very nice copyedit, by the way. I'll see about rearranging the story section. Ryu Kaze 13:14, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I think it's done. Make sure everything looks good to you. Ryu Kaze 16:04, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Hm. Well, with Final Fantasy VIII, Peer Review ended up more or less being a waste of time. FAC has become the new Peer Review in many ways. Sometimes an article needs it just for credibility's sake (I think Shadow of the Colossus should go through one just to weed out a few things that I'm sure are going to be called out), but I don't think it's a necessity in this case. Ryu Kaze 16:17, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Fine. XD Just a second. Let's see if I remember how. Ryu Kaze 16:19, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
We're up! Ryu Kaze 16:26, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Congrats to you and me both on our victories with VI and VIII. ^^ Ryu Kaze 16:31, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

I wonder if Chrono Trigger's going to pull through too? It doesn't have as much support, but I think we've addressed all concerns that were brought up. Ryu Kaze 21:30, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Hey, could you make sure that my changes to the criticism section are okay with one of your master copyedits? Ryu Kaze 02:22, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Looks good to me. Thanks. You always pull it out. Ryu Kaze 02:53, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Barnstar[edit]

You deserved it! Great job on the pages! --PresN 16:24, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Barnstar[edit]

Thanks! :) The Wookieepedian 17:15, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Barnstar[edit]

I, Sir Crazyswordsman, award you this for your help with Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger. Thanks a million!

"in order to"[edit]

It really is, but it's so natural to use it without thinking about it. That's why we've got copyeditors like you and Tony who don't miss a beat. Ryu Kaze 17:50, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Prose[edit]

The prose in the list of characters in the Max Rebo Band article was purposefully repetitive. I thought I read somewhere some time ago that in a list such as this, each entry was to be treated as a mini-article or something like that. Now that I am looking through WP:LIST, though, I can't find anything like that. Thanks for cleaning up the mess. Dmoon1 18:16, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

If I'm not constrained by this rule, then I see no need to keep saying "depicted as" or the like in the first sentence of each of these characters entries. Dmoon1 18:33, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Chrono Cross[edit]

I just finished editing through use of a hard copy of the article, and tons of fat have been melted away to leave a crisp product. I'm making the rounds on a few editors' talk pages to invite them to give the article a glance. Once Chrono Trigger is locked in FA, Chrono Cross should be next. I've put some serious hours into it, so I think with a little more polish by fresh eyes, we'll be ready to unload. Long live the Chrono series. --Zeality 19:25, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

I saw your interest in working on FFIX and FFIV[edit]

I'll help out if you need it. (I'm also interested in doing FFVII and Chrono Cross at some point as well). Sir Crazyswordsman 20:51, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Playing FFVIII[edit]

Sounds like you're having a good time. It is really great to take Seifer out in a single blow. Hilarious even. Have fun! Ryu Kaze 22:43, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

stabilising[edit]

Tyler—Thanks for alerting me to this issue, but I'm afraid that I think it's a terrible idea <blush>. Tony 06:02, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Yeah, I'd be less concerned if it were framed as a contingency for really unstable and important articles. Tony 06:18, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Shadow[edit]

Okay, thanks. That sentence always felt a bit iffy to me, but I wasn't really sure what to do about it. Ryu Kaze 17:31, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Do you mean just mention some of more the prominent features? An interesting thing about the forbidden land is that it really does feature every geographical feature in existance. XD Well, except for volcanoes and ice fields. Ryu Kaze 17:44, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
"In addition to the man-made structures present, the land is characterized by many diverse geographical features." Thanks! It's funny how easy it is to overlook things like this when you're so close to the material in question. Ryu Kaze 17:52, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Hm. True. I almost didn't include it, but I felt like "diverse" alone didn't accurately summarize it. I guess to an outside reader with no knowledge of all the different features represented, "many diverse" is no better than "diverse". They'd have to know what all of the features are before they'd see the need for a distinction. Good call. Ryu Kaze 17:55, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: Why some people hate FFVIII[edit]

If you can call them humans at all. XD

But, yes, true. True, true, true. Sad to say. Ryu Kaze 00:48, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

You know, I have to agree. Some people complain that abusing the system makes the game too easy, but it's only going to happen if you actively abuse it. You can make your characters be insanely powerful before you ever fight Gerogero if you want. By the same token, you could make the game be just as difficult as you can make it easy. It really is a difficulty system where you get out of it what you put into it. Ryu Kaze 00:53, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Dollet is definitely one of my favorite parts from any FF I've played. From beginning to end that scenario was wonderful. Right from the time that the characters start gathering for the mission and then when the music begins to get intense, that was when something my head went "Well, you were my favorite game ever, Final Fantasy VII. Soon, you're going to be dismounted it would seem".
Another part I really like is the big fight at the end of Disc 2. Very well done. My only complaint with it is not getting to see how it all ended. Ryu Kaze 01:06, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Double you... tee... eff? Ryu Kaze 01:08, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
This should tell you all you'd want to know about Ultimecia (you may have to copy the link). Very informative. Ryu Kaze 01:10, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, it might be a little hard to swallow at first, but since they really did make fate an active participant in the story, it makes sense, really. Though I think the authors were hoping too hard that the idea of Time Compression actually had an explanation. Ryu Kaze 01:36, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Userpage thanks[edit]

Hi there. Thanks for the revert. I hadn't noticed that Israel thing on my userpage. Blnguyen | rant-line 06:36, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

CVG Barnstar[edit]

I, ZeWrestler, award you the CVG Barnstar for your great work on WikiProject Final Fantasy. Thank you!--ZeWrestler Talk 17:27, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Final Fantasy IX[edit]

Hello. In the FF WikiProject, I saw you were wanting to take up FFIX. I mentioned that I was in the middle of rewriting it, but I honestly want to focus back on the Square Co. page that I've been working on for practically months now. I was wondering if you wanted to take my source code for the FFIX page and go at it. I can definitely help explain things on the way; some of the stuff is in shorthand (my own little placeholder notes), so I'll point those out to you beforehand if you decide to finish the rest of the project. Thanks! --Tristam 19:20, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Where do you want me to post the source code? --Tristam 03:31, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Clone Wars[edit]

I promoted Clone Wars (Star Wars); I haven't read it in a while and it certainly has improved. I wasn't sure where to categorize it at the Good Articles page, so I stuck in the film section. If someone doesn't like that they can just move it. I only had a few minor comments about the article that I noted on the article's talk page.

Thanks for promoting Padmé Amidala. I didn't even know someone had nominated it for GA. Dmoon1 05:12, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
