Fauxland, officially the Republic of Fauxland, is an island in the Oceania region. Its capital is Cabascus; other major cities include Athus and Bodark. Fauxland is most notable for its religious views and technological advances. Fauxland is an exclusively atheist country, with all other religions banned, under the penalty of deportation; and admittance is strictly restricted to Atheists. Due to these views, Fauxland is highly controversial internationally and is subject to religious abuse and has become an international terrorism target.
Etymology[edit]
The name Fauxland comes from the French word for false, which is 'Faux'. This name was chosen because due to the country's exclusively atheist views, in which all gods are believed to be false.
History[edit]
The island of Fauxland was formed by an underwater volcanic explosion in early 2013. The island is almost entirely composed of volcanic rock and extremely rich in minerals. Soon after its creation, it was claimed by the New Zealand government because of its proximity to New Zealand. After just 28 days it was bought from the New Zealand government by Jack Nelson an individual from Australia. He enlisted the help of severeal other like-minded individuals and formed a new government, referred to as the Government of Fauxland.
Worldwide shock resulted when the Government of Fauxland announced that it would be exclusively opened to Athiests and all other religions would be banned. Within the following days, hundreds of people, families and individuals, flocked to the island to join the new government. Less than a week after the governments formation, there was an attempted assassination of the President, Jack Nelson, which was successfully prevented by the Faux Secret Service. After this, the rate of people increased significantly as many people saw this as proof that this was a legitimate country.
Within twelve months, the Republic of Fauxland had formed a formidable military and scientific presence and its population had reached over 100,000. After a lengthy debate within the UN, the Government of Fauxlandwas invited to join the United Nations. After joining the UN, Fauxland's military and population increased even more.
Currently, Fauxland hosts one of the the most advanced military forces in the world, strongly supported by Fauxland's outstanding scientific breakthroughs. Its population continues to grow but at a slower rate. Current projections expect the Republicof Fauxland to be the world's next superpower within the next decade.
Geography[edit]
The island of Fauxland was only very recently formed. A major buold up of pressure underground cause a large underwater volcanic eruption, resulting in the ocean floor re-shaping. After the volcanic magma cooled it formed volcanic rock; the main body of the island now known as Fauxland.
Due the the nature of its creation, the" mainland" of Fauxland is surrounded by other smaller islands; Not unlike those of Fiji or Tonga. Not all of these islands are populated and some are privatley owned by corporations and private buyers alike. Apart from the President's and Vice President's private islands, one o the most famous privatley-owned, government-contracted islands is that owned by NanoTech Sciences. This privatley operated island is the headquarters for NanoTech Sciences and is widely regarded as the most scientifically advanced facility in the world.

Religion[edit]
By far the most recognized controversy concerning Fauxland is is policy to strictly allow exclusively atheists access to the country. Religious persons found to be staying on the island or lying about their beliefs are heavily fined and deported to their place of origin.
Is is suspected that Fauxland's lack of religion is a major cause of its low-crime and technologically advanced society. This has been supported by several studies however none have definitively proven that this is the only cause.
A movement was passed through parliament in Fauxland to allow people who follow the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster entry to Fauxland as it stands for very similar, anti-religious beliefs. However this motion was denyed 48 votes to 52 as this was seen to weaken their resolve.
Foreign Relations and Military[edit]
While not currently the strongest, Fauxland's military is highly advanced. This is largely due to the government-contracted research and development firms operation out of the Faux Islands.
Current estimates put the Faux military at approximately ... troops strong, including Army, Navy and Air Force. The strongest element of the Faux military is their Naval forces. This is due to Fauxland being an island, the navy is used where a landlocked country would use their army.
Fauxland is a member of theUnited Nations and therefore is allied with all other UN-Inclusive countries. Most noticably, the Faux government has close relations with the Australian, New Zealand and American governments due to it proximity and international standing.
Due to Faxland's religious restrictions, it is seen as a major terrorism target worldwide. As a majority of terrorist attacks are religion-based, Fauxland is seen as an offence to their religion, wether it is Christian, Muslim or any other.
Many sources predict that one Fauxland grows, it will become the world next superpower; denying this title to China and taking it from the US. This is predicted to take place within the next decade.
