Early Life[edit]

Aslett was born on July 22, 1935 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Duane Aslett (1909-1983) and Opal Nora Ross (1915-2004); he was the second of five children (one sister, three brothers). His father was involved in building many of the roads in Southern Idaho until they decided to leave that life and choose farming. After his teen-age years on the farm Aslett attended Idaho State College (now Idaho State University) from 1954 to 1963 with a 2-year hiatus to serve a church mission for the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Hawaiian Islands.
