Anders Hagberg[edit]

Anders Hagberg, born on September 11th, 1958, is a flutist, saxophonist, and composer from Uppsala. He has recorded a large number of records with elements of jazz, folk music, and world music. He is a professor of musical performance with a focus on improvisation at the University of Gothenburg, Academy of Music and Drama.

He was educated from 1979 to 1983 at the Academy of Music at the University of Gothenburg and has since then freelanced with a focus on jazz and world music. He has toured internationally with his own bands Winduo, Earthsongs, Anders Hagberg Quartet, Melodic Melange, and with groups and artists such as Mynta, New Jungle Orchestra, Yggdrasil, Gunnel Mauritzson, Björn Afzelius among others. His international collaborations include artists from India, the Middle East, Japan, Brazil, West Africa, the United States, and South Korea, among others. He has written music for film, dance performances, and theatre, and works as an educator at the Academy of Music in Gothenburg.

Anders Hagberg's projects often include musicians from different genres and cultures as well as other art forms such as dance and art. He has longtime collaborations with Indian artists such as Fazal Qureshi, Vikku Vinayakram, and Shankar Mahadevan both through with Mynta and as a soloist during tours and guest performances in India.
