From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We plan to continue to make changes to the Individual Family Service Plan page. There are several errors regarding facts about what an IFSP is and what services it can provide for families. We already made minor changes regarding the age that children and families can receive an IFSP. We want to continue to provide information about the transition process into special education and who assesses and provides help with that process. Additionally, we would like to add more clarification on how the IDEA initially expanded these services. Finally, we want to highlight the difference between an IFSP and an IEP. Ally will be responsible for the expansion and availability of services through the IDEA. Cassidy will be responsible for more information about the transition process from an IFSP to an IEP. Kati will be responsible for the difference between an IFSP and an IEP.

Substantial Changes Made (Halfway There) Update:

1. We started by rewriting the introduction of the article to clearly state what an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) is and emphasize the importance of it. It is crucial to explain that the IFSP is provided to families by law and that they can have a major impact on the early development of children. Additionally, they provide various services to families as a whole. The other change we made was expanding on the differences between an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) and an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). They are two very different things and we wanted to make sure that they were clearly differentiated in the article. We also added more information about the history of these plans, laws in place that support these plans, parent rights, and eligibility criteria.

2. We will continue to add to each of the sections in the article and make sure everything is easy to understand. We will be looking for more references and elaborating in some areas. More information and references on the IPP is still needed and will be added soon.

3. Ally has been working on the introduction, Cassidy has been working on laws and eligibility, and Kati has been working on the differences between the different plans. Collectively, we have been editing and rearranging the article to figure out how it can be organized in a way to be well understood.

Price Comments[edit]

Sounds good. Definitely try to make some progress on the changes soon. Cassidy and Kati should have links to this page in their sandboxes (assuming this is the one where you are all going to be working. The links above going back to their pages do not work right now because those pages haven't been created yet. Paul C Price (talk) 18:29, 28 October 2019 (UTC)
