I really don't understand the jerks on this site that don't understand the importance and necessity of fansites in the external links.

Fansites come from people who have played the game/seen the show (whatever the media happens to be), have purchased official books, combed through official sites. They offer A LOT more on a subject than a wiki article.

I can totally understand not wanting sites that are just like "OMGZ I lurvs this characters 4ev4s" blah blah blah. Fine, I wouldn't want that added either. But a good amount of fansites have 2 main information sections: One full of official non-opinionated material (gathered from actual game play, official sites, released books) and another section geared towards rationalizing the character(s), plot, etc. These sections are clearly marked.

Personally, I usually play the Japanese version of games and the Japanese version is usually always has a lot of differences compared to the US release of the same game. I buy official artbooks and magazines and any other official book (most of which nare never translated and make it to the US), translate them and use the information on my fansite.

But here we have so many "Edit Nazis" that just remove perfectly helpful fansites without any reasoning behind the removal whatsoever. It's a GAME/ANIME not a person's biography. The person who visit these sites can go and tell whether or not they feel the information there is of use to them or not. What good does providing only links to the Japanese language website do for someone who cannot understand the Japanese language? Why don't you post some hieroglyphics while you're at it? Some fansites provide translations of the information provided on the official Japanese site(s).

If someone wants to get a good feel of a game or what it is about, the cropped synopsis and dinky character profiles here on wiki aren't going to tell them a thing.

On behalf of the shriners here on Wiki, I want to say to these people: If you did not add the link, and the link is relevant, than stop being such a hardass and taking them down. I see for the less popular/known game/anime series, fansites are kept up, as the fansites are really the only external link you can provide.
