To many pages to list in a navbox[edit]

@Llemiles: I fear that there are so many pages that qualify for this navbox that including them all would make it too large and cumbersome. There are 162 pages in the subcategories of Category:Welsh musicians by century (listed here), and there are probably many uncategorised pages as well.

It might be better to have navboxes organised by genre: for example 'Welsh opera singers', 'Welsh rock musicians', 'Welsh composers'...

If it is kept, this template should be added to Category:Music navigational boxes, or one of its subcategories. I can't see any other navboxes for musicians of a country, which is a good reason to think again about this one. Regards, Verbcatcher (talk) 06:15, 30 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Noted[edit]

Thank you Verbcatcher for your comments, I may see if changing to 'notable Welsh musicians' (by some existing metric which is documented on Wikipedia), or musicians of post 1900, or some other format, may help to reduce the quantity of articles included. I still feel it can prove to be a useful and interesting addition to Welsh music Wikipedia in some form. Kind regards, Llemiles (talk) 11:42, 30 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edits to Feeder and Cool Cymru[edit]

I note a few edits have been repeated by users which remove the pages Feeder and Cool Cymru. I'm not quite sure why, as they are explicitly Welsh music-related pages and Cool Cymru particularly is a relevant phenomenon for the 1990s era, on an era-layout template.

If you feel there are reasons to remove either of the above, please let me know below, as I'm not understanding why they are unhelpful. Llemiles (talk) 11:42, 30 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

'Contemporary'[edit]

Not sure adding 'Contemporary' to the template title is a good idea. Are musicians active in the 1940s, 50s and 60s really contemporary? Do we plan to delete musicians when they get too old, or out of fashion, or dead? Sionk (talk) 09:23, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As there seems to have been no response to this or any other concerns about the templates name or contents over the last four years, I have gone ahead and renamed it "Welsh popular musicians".
I have also removed Joe Strummer as really I don't think we can claim him as Welsh based purely on his time digging graves in Newport. Cymrogogoch (talk) 01:23, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Potts[edit]

Should Paul Potts be added? Although born in Bristol, his article describes him as "a Welsh tenor". Dunarc (talk) 18:49, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
