please don't abbreviate ÖPNV as OPNV. What should OPNV stand for? We could probably abbreviate Public transport Vienna as PT Viennaor even PTV, but I don't agree with OPNV. Also, I plan to make some other edits to that template, so it would be great if you would not edit it much until I have finished. Also, there is a difference between Wiener Lokalbahnen and Wiener Lokalbahn. Greetings, FDMS 4 17:07, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
ÖPNV was inherited from de:WP: Öffentlichen Personennahverkehrs. Since Ö is not standard in english, it’s not unreasonable to have a redirect from the unaccented letter. Also, at en:WP, Wiener Lokalbahn redirects to Wiener Lokalbahnen, so that needs to be fixed. Useddenim (talk) 17:33, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Why do we have that ÖPNV at all? Probably it is a relict of the de.WP template as our en.WP template could be a copy from there. As far as I know nobody uses it in English, but still I think it is more common than OPNV. Wiener Lokalbahnen is the operator of Wiener Lokalbahn, therefore in my eyes redirecting is OK, but it would be better if the target was a (currently nonexistant) section dealing only with the "local railway" (tram-train). I agree, and since my German consists of one semester in high school and translate.google.com, would you be willing to make the initial translation? Useddenim (talk) 18:16, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There’s no need to rush, as they have waited this long. Do whichever one(s) you want whenever you want. But getting back to {{Public transport Vienna}}/{{ÖPNV Wien}}/{{OPNV Wien}}: another possibility is to include them into {{Rail-interchange}}, leaving only a redirect in the original locations. Sounds like a good idea and would not even make syntax longer. FDMS 4 21:26, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
