Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit template-protected}} template. This shortname alias has been in place for five years prior to the change in July. Using "Micronesia" as the shortname was already discussed at Talk:Federated States of Micronesia#Country data template, the consensus seemed to be to not have that as the alias. Consensus is only required for controversial edits. Users @Guarapiranga:, @MSGJ:, and myself have no problem with such an edit, which seems to me to show that it is uncontroversial and consensus enough. That was 10 years ago, S.A._Julio. The arguments there refer to the official name; the shortname alias is not that. The official name of Brazil is Federated Republic of Brazil, but of course no one knows it as that. That's not even Brazil's primary alias on WP. That's inconsistent. If there is ambiguity with the name of the region, then WP has other protocols for WP:DISAMBIG'ing, as done with Georgia (country) and Georgia (US state).
