What's the use of this navigation template? Markussep Talk 15:08, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Admittedly, it is of limited value. What links here lists the reasonably small list of articles where it is useful to the article. If it didn't exist, much of the information in the template should find a way into some of the articles in narrative form. In short the template is not necessary just helpful.--CSvBibra 15:16, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not clear to me at all how these places are related to Bibra, it looks like a random list of places in Thuringia and Bavaria (and Czech Republic and Australia). For instance, if Würzburg is related, then so is Erfurt, or Eisenach, or Fulda. If you know the relation, better write it out instead. Markussep Talk 15:25, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In quickly looking over the list, at least 12 of the 24 including Wurzburg, have in their articles at least part of the connection written out. Speaking of Fulda, it should have been in the template as it's connection is spelled out in the article and the connection with Prince Bishop Prince Abbot Heinrich von Bibra is very strong, strong enough to name one of its newer high schools after him. I would be happy to remove localities where the connection is not spelled out in the body of the article for instance Bamberg. Regards --CSvBibra 16:14, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I read the Würzburg article; the connection between the towns Würzburg and Bibra is very weak IMO. By your rationale, Würzburg should be in hundreds of "places related to .." templates. Same for Fulda and many other towns. I suppose your "12 of the 24" includes towns in the same district, but we already have a standard template for that: {{Cities and towns in Schmalkalden-Meiningen (district)}}.
I don't feel strongly about keeping the template. If you feel strongly, I can delete it however a better analogy would be a template of German municipalities with American military bases. It that theoretical case, the articles on the bases rather than the cities might have the template. The template would not make sense on the Wurburg site precisely because it is not important enough for Wurzburg, however the template is relevant to the village of Bibra by Meinigen.--CSvBibra 23:00, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Is there an American military base in Bibra? It's not mentioned in the article. Anyway, there are templates about military bases, see {{USAF Bases in Germany}}, the category Category:Military facilities of the United States in Germany, and there's thess lists: List of United States military bases and List of United States Army installations in Germany. It might not be complete, though. I would suggest you replace the template with text explaining the specific relations, because the template raises more questions than it answers. I will start work replacing the template with text.--CSvBibra 15:22, 5 October 2007 (UTC) I have deleted the template from most places and will work on the language on the remaining three before removing there.--CSvBibra 15:34, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
