Reason for creating template[edit]

User:Hullaballoo Wolfowitz pointed out at User talk:Hullaballoo Wolfowitz#Adult models categories that "adult model" is

a term with no well-defined meaning, and derogatory connotations. Per WP:CAT, categories must "be based on essential, 'defining' features of article subjects," a test that this amorphous characterization, with no defining criteria, clearly fails. Categories are also appropriately defined in terms of occupation, and the fact that a model has done some "glamour" work does not establish an occupation. WP:BLP requires that "the case for each category must be made clear by the article text and its reliable sources," a standard that the "adult model" category fails in this and similar cases. Finally, BLP also requires that "Caution should be used with categories that suggest a person has a poor reputation," a standard which both the title of this category and the association of mainstream models with hardcore pornographic performers violates. We don't categorize Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren, Holly Hunter, Sally Field, or Glenda Jackson as "adult movie actresses," or even Kim Cattrall, Maria Schneider, and countless B-movie performers who've done topless (or more revealing) scenes.

I agree with the above, and therefore created this template to be displayed on all category pages for adult models. I also moved various publication-related categories of glamour models from "female adult models" up to "female models". - Fayenatic (talk) 18:18, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Criteria hopelessly ambiguous[edit]

This criterion: "the fact that a model has done some "glamour" work does not establish an occupation" seems to me to make categorization into this article extremely difficult to decide. Should for instance the two Norwegian demale models Lene Alexandra and Triana Iglesias be categoriez as adult models? __meco (talk) 09:10, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The category is for people who have verifiably done some hardcore porn work, not just lads' mags. Those two examples should not be in the category, so I will remove them. - Fayenatic (talk) 11:59, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
