Symbolon

  • ... that Symbolon, composed by Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, was the first piece of American orchestral music to be performed in the Soviet Union? Source: "Symbolon was the first American symphonic piece premiered in the Soviet Union; it marked the end of the Cold War. Zwilich is also the first women composer to win the Pulitzer Prize for music.
