Schalcken the Painter[edit]

Created/expanded by Jack1956 (talk). Self nominated at 12:53, 15 November 2014 (UTC).

  • article size and age pass muster. Hook cited. No too-close paraphrasing detected of two main sources. Interesting article. good to go. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 03:06, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
  • I'm sorry, I don't see the hook fact about the film being based on Gerrit Dou in the article or in the source. The source says it was based on just Godfried Schalcken. Moreover, unless viewers know who Schalcken is, it's doubtful that they'll click on this hook. The part about the lighting and sets based on Vermeer paintings is very interesting, but not sourced. • The source mentions Gerrit Dou in the third paragraph; I have added a link for the use of Vermeer's backgrounds, and the words 'ghost story' should entice readers, I think. Jack1956 (talk) 18:59, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you. I'm sorry, I didn't make myself clear in the last sentence, I meant that the part about the atmospheric lighting would make a better hook, though it wasn't sourced (now it is). How about:
  • ALT1: ... that the atmospheric lighting and sets used in BBC's 1979 ghost story Schalcken the Painter were based on paintings by Vermeer? Yoninah (talk) 19:47, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
  • I am perfectly happy with ALT1 and thank you for your help in getting the hook up to standard, Jack1956 (talk) 21:27, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you. I shortened the hook a bit. New reviewer needed for ALT1. Yoninah (talk) 21:28, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
