Rainbow Room[edit]

  • ... that New York City's Rainbow Room restaurant once hosted an exclusive "luncheon club", where applicants needed to know two of the club's governors to even be considered? Source: Rockefeller Center Archive, PDF p. 15. "No name for a candidate for membership shall be acted upon unless he personally be known to at least two governors, one of whom must be present."
    • ALT1:... that New York City's Rainbow Room restaurant, located atop 30 Rockefeller Plaza, was inspired in part by the Chrysler Building's Cloud Club? Source: NYC Landmark Designation, p. 3. "One of Manhattan’s most famous examples was the Cloud Club in the Chrysler Building (a designated New York City Landmark), which opened in July 1930 and occupied three floors in the crown. This 300-member dining club catered to midtown businessmen and may have provided a model for the Rainbow Room and the Rockefeller Center Luncheon Club"
    • ALT2:... that in its earliest years, New York City's Rainbow Room restaurant was frequented by the social elite and the royalty? Source: NY Times, where there's a list of royalty that went to the Rainbow Room. (2) Okrent, Daniel (2003). Great Fortune: The Epic of Rockefeller Center. Penguin Books. • Epicgenius, GA, in time, long enough, sourced, inline hook citations check out for ALT0 and ALT2 (ALT1 citation, and article, throw in a "may" that is not included in the hook), no apparent copyvios. Preference is for ALT2 after QPQ is done. --Usernameunique (talk) 23:20, 10 February 2018 (UTC)
  • @Usernameunique: Which one should it be, though? As far as I'm aware, both hooks can't be promoted. ALT0 seems more interesting but ALT2 seems to have broader appeal since not many people know about this restaurant's reputation. epicgenius (talk) 21:26, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
  • I personally prefer ALT2, because it is interesting and more direct compared to the wordier ALT0. North America1000 06:53, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
  • When more than one hook is approved, the promoter will select the one they feel works best, though they will pay attention to the opinions of both reviewer and nominator. It is not necessary for a choice to be made in advance by reviewer or nominator. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:38, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
