  • A fine and well written article, nicely and sufficiently expanded. The hook is interesting, referenced in the article (the number 90,000 comes from the addition of the 20,000 Sicilian army soldiers plus the 70,000 reinforcements), and I found the referenced information in my copies of the books. No copyvio. The QPQ is also done, so this is good to go. Applodion (talk) 22:15, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

I am confused. Applodion physically checked the sources, so didn't - I would have thought - AGF; so why should they use the AGF tick? Is there some rule we are both unaware of? Gog the Mild (talk) 12:28, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi Yoninah. No problem. Note that while doing this I noticed a couple of (not necessarily related) missing cites and added them.
  1. "It was at this point that Mathos came to prominence as one of the most outspoken of the 20,000 strong army; he was totally opposed to anything less than full payment, including the fulfilment of all verbal promises.[1][2]"
  2. "Provisions, money and 70,000 reinforcements poured in.[3][4][5]"
  3. "... he [Spendius] and Mathos were jointly declared generals by the mutineers.[6]"

So #1 to establish Mathos as a member of the army; #3 to establish him as the (joint) leader [actually he became the senior decision maker, but I am not sure that we need that much nuance here]; #2 and #3 for 20,000 plus 70,000 equals 90,000.

Let me know if you would like me to give the actual words in the sources I am relying on, but note that Applodion above comments "I found the referenced information in my copies of the books"
