Lord Kanaloa[edit]

Lord Kanaloa

  • Reviewed: Not a self-nom

Created by Tigerboy1966 (talk). Nominated by Rcej (talk) at 09:28, 14 December 2013 (UTC).

  • Article measures 7,166 chars and was created on 13 December, so fine for length and newness. Dup detector finds no copyvios or close paraphrasing - only duplications are for unavoidable items such as race titles, margins of victory, quotes etc. Article is well-referenced to multiple sources and the citations are correctly formatted. Accompanying image is photographer's own work and is licensed for use. The hook fact is correctly cited to an online source. Hook itself is OK for length and properly formatted, have linked horse trainer in addition to the existing links. No QPQ required as not a self-nom. Good article and ready for DYK. --Bcp67 (talk) 08:56, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
  • ALT1:... that after becoming the first Japanese racehorse to win the Hong Kong Sprint last year, Lord Kanaloa (pictured) returned to Hong Kong and won it again this year? --PFHLai (talk) 05:34, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
I prefer the original hook as being shorter and more snappy. Have amended the alt hook slightly to show that Lord Kanaloa won the same race again this year. --Bcp67 (talk) 06:18, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Thx PFHLai! But I too prefer the original hook. :) -- Rcej (Robert)talk 07:05, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Striking ALT1 as both unreviewed and not preferred by nominator and reviewer; since the original hook has been approved, we don't want to risk an unreviewed hook being taken by a promoter in error. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:03, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
