Learning to read[edit]

This article is not ready for the big time. First of all, it is not expanded fivefold, though one might ignore that rule for a long article. However, the article is simply not written in the proper encyclopedic style, it still has valid maintenance tags, it needs a lot of copyedits, it is in serious need of globalization (it's totally US-centered), and its sourcing (and the way references are done) are not up to snuff. I applaud the editors for having taken this up, but it is simply not good enough. I've made a few sample copy edits to the article, and much more needs to be done. Besides, I'm not even sure that "Learning to read" is an appropriate title or an appropriate topic. Reading education is a better title, but that is currently a redirect to a pretty poor article on reading education in the US. Sorry. Drmies (talk) 19:44, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
