- Has been 5x expanded since October 27, 2017. Was still assessed as a Stub, so I've re-assessed as Start for all WikiProjects, as it clearly no longer a Stub. Verified all citations used to support the hook, using Google Translate from the German. The article and source say it was consecrated in 1333, not 1330? Also, we don't need Hanover twice or the piped link to the church article. The hook is a bit pedestrian, reads like a list. I would concentrate on one or two aspects, for example that the church was formerly Roman Catholic and became Lutheran in 1533 during the Reformation, or that its altar survived the destruction of the church during World War II and remains the central feature of the rebuilt church. A couple of suggestions:
- ALT1:
... that the Kreuzkirche, Hanover was a Roman Catholic church which became Lutheran in 1533, during the Reformation?or - ALT2:
... that the Lucas Cranach-built altar of the Kreuzkirche, Hanover survived the destruction of the church during World War II, and became its central feature when it was rebuilt?

- Thanks for looking. Yes, typos, 1333 and the dupl Hanover, was too late. We could drop the destruction, but I though it was something that might attract people. ALT2 doesn't work, because the altar wasn't in that church (but the Schlosskirche) until after the war. I'm not happy because Catholic means something different before the Reformation, catholic. All churches which turned Protestant were catholic before, - not exciting about this one ;) - Just the 400 years are cute, I think, and the source is from 1833 ;) - Catholic Church, no need for "Roman", btw.

- ALT3 is still really "listy", Gerda. Not everyone knows that all old Lutheran churches were once Catholic. Maybe many Germans, but not other people. What about a hook that focusses on the history of the altar and where it came from? It seems the most interesting bit to me. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 09:09, 28 October 2017 (UTC)

The altar could have its own article some day. - Can we do the following: we try something related to Reformation, and if it doesn't get featured that day (because not so many hooks wanted for the topic), we can think about alternatives? - The hook should be about this church, not that "they" were once "catholic", which meant "universal", - there was only that church in Western Europe, so the link to Catholic church is not really helpful. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:21, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
Gerda, I'm going to pass ALT3 because it meets the minimum criteria. I don't think it will attract many page views because the hook isn't very interesting, but I feel we're at cross-purposes and don't think further discussion is going to lead anywhere. Now that we're building a prep set to coincide with the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, Gerda's insistence on mentioning the latter event in the hook becomes clear. I added a few words from the source and suggest this alt:- ALT4: ... that when the citizens of Hanover accepted the Reformation in 1533, the 200-year-old Kreuzkirche became Lutheran?
