  • New enough, long enough. NPOV. No copyvios or close paraphrasing found when comparing the available sources. The problem I have with the first hook is that it lacks an available online citation and I'm struggling to find a decent source for it. The problem with ALT1 is that his wife only acted in a G&S role after they separated, so the hook could be seen as misleading. Also, the image is probably suitably licensable for the front page, but is not yet on Commons. Help! Edwardx (talk) 23:25, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

  • That source does mention the relationship, but it does not explicitly state that it led to the separation (even if it might seem to us to be hardly surprising!). Plus it is a blog. On the plus side, I'm happy with ALT3. I've unlinked Great Britain and tweaked the link at the end. So, I'll sign it off on that basis and strike the other hooks. Good to go! I'm a bit confused by this turn of phrase; what does "found fame... with his wife" mean? Does it mean he became famous with the help of his wife? Or that his wife was famous and he became famous as a result? That he simply became famous when he was married? Or that they both became famous separately? Sorry, I'm not normally one to make such a picayune post, but I am generally confused by the wording. The good news is I suspect it's one or two words away from being much less so.   • New full review for ALT3a (below): New enough (for 3 May) and long enough. Hook checks out in online citation #4. Hook image is free. QPQ OK. No problems with disambig links. Issues: (1) External link for citation #8 is broken (you may be able to find a cached link to this site). (2) External links #1, #11 and #12 are inaccessible due to being pay-per-view (these can be written as offline sources; freebmd can help with #1 and #11 if you already know name, place and date).   • I'm suggesting a slight clarification to ALT3:
  • ALT3a: ... that American writer and actor Henry Howard Paul became famous in Great Britain after appearing on stage with his wife (both pictured)?
I think it's clearer that this fame is as a performer, and that his wife was one as well. It's an edit I would probably have made if ALT3 went to prep, but only if I'd noticed the promotion in time, so better to mention it now. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:39, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

  • Thank you, BlueMoonset for ALT3a, and I agree with your comments about it. I've struck ALT3, and adjusted my review above so that it now refers to ALT3a. Issues (1) and (2) raised in my review have still not been resolved. Oddly, the ext. link for citation #12 is now working for me, although I have not paid to see it, although links #1 and #11 still request payment.   • I have tried to address the issues you mentioned; I have repaired the broken link, and rather than put the Ancestry links as off-line citations I have added 'pay to view' because a lot of people are subscribers to Ancestry and these will be be able to access this information.   • Well I've learned something new - just looked it up and found this: WP:PAYWALL. So your addition to the pay-to-view citations is OK. I'm surprised because editors have removed my pay-to-view citations in the past, which is why I was questioning it in your article. All resolved now.
