Elizabeth Gray (fossil collector)[edit]

  • ... that, although Elizabeth Gray died, the family tradition of collecting fossils at Girvan lasted for 86 years?

Can we do better than " United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland early Scottish..." The article as written is full of these confusing constructs - and her husband and, in time, their children, "in time"...sounds like verbatim from a very old source. Ceoil (talk) 22:25, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
We certainly can, I'm hoping that someone will improve the article as this used to happen when someone found a phrase they could improve - they changed it. Meanwhile feel free to list your comments here. Is this how we improve this encyclopedia? Victuallers (talk) 23:40, 2 December 2015 (UTC)
The article was nominated within seven days of creation. It is long enough and properly sourced. I cannot access the main source, which covers the hook too, but the available sources check out and do not give any indication of close paraphrasing. The reference directly follows the hook, in line with DYK rules. The photograph qualifies as fair use. I would suggest breaking the article into more useful sections, as all of it is supposed to be about her life. While I approve the original hook, I think the article has greater potential. Somehow contrasting her modest education with her contribution and recognition or possibly mentioning her activity in advanced age seems "hookier". I would suggest some myself, but then you would have to wait for another nominator to approve them. What do you say? Surtsicna (talk) 21:38, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
