... that in the opera Don Quichotte auf der Hochzeit des Comacho, Georg Philipp Telemann (pictured) characterized the noble people by elements from the opera seria, the peasants by Spanish folk music? Source: [1] "Der Form nach ist die Komposition ein Singspiel in einem Akt. Telemann gab sich Mühe, die unterschiedlichen Figuren des StÜckes musikalisch zu differenzieren. Don Quijote und Sancho werden als Männer von Stand (noble people) dargestellt, zuweilen etwas spieflig, aber mit einem parodistischen Effekt. Ihre Arien erinnern an die etwas pompösen Da-capo-Arien der italienischen Opera seria. Ihre Dialoge sind im rezitativen Stil gehalten. Die einfachen Leute, Schäfer und Landbevölkerung (peasants), machen auf der anderen Seite Gebrauch von volkst ̧mlichen Melodien und Volksliedern, die mitunter an die sp‰ten Meister des Singspiels wie Haydn und Mozart erinnern. Ein weiteres für Telemann charakteristisches Verfahren ist das Einfügen von Rhythmus und Instrumentaltechniken, die typisch für die spanische Folklore (Spanish folk music) waren. In einigen Schäferliedern ist der ostinato-Rhythmus der Trommeln bestimmter spanischer Volkstänze zu hören ..."
