Christiana Abiodun Emanuel[edit]

Created by Bosstopher (talk). Self-nominated at 13:39, 9 April 2015 (UTC).

  • Congratulations on your first article, Bosstopher! For DYK purposes, the article is new enough, long enough, adequately referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. As most of the sources are offline, I did a Google search to find out more about her and immediately came up with this article from the Dictionary of African Christian Biography, which contradicts numerous facts stated in your article, such the spelling of her last name, her birthplace, and amount of time spent unconscious. Other online sources that may be used to double-check/expand the article are Holy People of the World: A Cross-cultural Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia of New Religious Movements, and West African Christianity: The Religious Impact. The hook could use more ummph; maybe you could source the information about her trance and visions and come up with something hooky from that? No QPQ necessary for first-time nominator. @Yoninah:Thank you for the review. I accessed most of the sources used for writing this through JSTOR, so they are readable online if you want to check them. I've double checked and I dont think I've misrepresented any of the sources. One of the main problems I had with writing this article is that every source I read seemed to contradict all the others. Especially with regards to why the Cherubim and Serphim schism happened. WRT to spelling I'm more prone to lean towards that of the DAB which seems to be slightly more academic in nature than the DACB (which is partially written by clerics). I'll remove the length of the trance and the place of birth though. Thank you for the new sources those will be useful in expanding the article. As for a hook would --
ALT1: ... that YorubaAladura religious leader Christiana Abiodun claimed angels had visited her during a trance and taken her to heaven? -- work? Bosstopher (talk) 20:15, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Yes, that works a lot better. I added an inline cite from one of the book sources for the trance part, but you'll also need to add a cite for Yoruba, which doesn't appear in the article. Alternately, you could delete the description and start with "... that Christiana Abiodun claimed ..." The matter of each source contradicting the other is rather odd. The ALT1 hook is based on a reliable encyclopedia, though. In the future, please add the URLs for the JStor articles so readers like me, who have access to JStor, can quickly access them. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 00:35, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Note: I had disambiguated Yoruba to Yoruba religion based on an assumption merely from looking at ALT1. But after glancing at the article, I replaced it with Yoruba people, which seems more appropriate. If you do keep "Yoruba" in the hook, please check that it is disambiguated correctly. • Crap... Sorry I meant Aladura, not Yoruba. The Aladura thing is cited to the Encylcopedia Britannica article, so I think that makes the entire hook cited now. Sorry for taking so long to respond.Bosstopher (talk) 15:08, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
  • Thanks for clearing that up, @Bosstopher:. ALT1 hook refs verified and cited inline. ALT1 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 15:18, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
