Cacopsylla pyricola[edit]

  • ... that the pear sucker arrived in the eastern United States from Europe in about 1800 and took about one hundred years to travel across America? Source: "... is not native to North America, but was introduced into the eastern United States in the early 1800s on infested pear seedlings imported from Europe. The pest rapidly dispersed from the eastern U.S., ultimately reaching the pear-growing regions of western North America in the early 1900s."
